This innovative plant-based oil received Canadian Novel Foods approval in early 2010 and can be incorporated into numerous foods to achieve a compelling omega-3 nutrient content claim. Grown right here in Canada and naturally cold-pressed into a beautiful golden oil, Camelina also contains high levels of naturally-occuring gamma-tocopherol (vitamin E). This unique attribute gives it outstanding stability, making it an excellent alternative to flax oil which is easily prone to rancidity.
Camelina Seed Oil has an unusually high smoke point, making it suitable for baking and light frying. It is a light oil that is not prone to congealing when refrigerated (as olive oil will do) and when blending or formulating for dressings, it will meld with flavours rather than overpower them.
